Dear church family,
I pray that each one of you is well. I would like to encourage you with the words of the Psalmist David in Psalms 16:7-8: I bless the Lord who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. This passage spoke to my heart this morning and brought me to assume an attitude of dependence in God’s sovereign will and care. I pray it will have the same effect on you also.
The situation with the Coronavirus is evolving rapidly, the Board of Elders, like you, trusts in the Sovereignty of God and is very attentive to follow the directives given by our governmental officers and the medical authorities. We took the decision to cancel all our church services (including Connect Small Groups meetings) and to post online audio & video podcast. Such decision is difficult, we are not doing this out of fear but for precaution.
During this time, we will broadcast our Sunday service at our usual service times, 11:00 am on our youtube channel: Fairview Alliance Church video; and at 1:00pm on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/FairviewAllianceChurch.
We also, have scheduled online prayer meetings through the Zoom platform every Wednesday night at 7:pm. We also are implementing online “ConnectSmall Groups”
The Board of Elders have been in contact with our senior church members to make sure that are doing fine. In the midst of a very legitimate concern with what is going on, I really want you to see this as an opportunity for us to serve those around us. Please connect with lonely people. There will be brothers and sisters in the Lord, neighbours and friends who need reassurance and practical support. We can all show the love of Jesus by checking in on those around us, perhaps going grocery shopping for them or picking up prescriptions if they are unable to go outside.
I, also, would like to remind you to uphold in prayer those who are working in the health system, and our civil authorities, federal, provincial and local. The word of God in 2 Chronicles 7:14 reminds us this: 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land
May the Lord continue to protect and watch over all of us during this time!
In Christ,
Pastor Mario
